“Seeing is a neglected surprise”

Meet Paul – A Storyteller Through the Lens

Paul has always seen the world a little differently—finding beauty in everyday moments that others might overlook. Though photography has been a lifelong passion, it was the birth of his two sons 35 years ago that sparked his deep desire to capture life through a lens.

Inspired by iconic photographers like Corrine Day, Saul Leiter, and Peter Lindbergh, Paul’s work blends spontaneity, humor, and emotion. His goal? To tell stories through images that feel honest, human, and quietly powerful.

Before devoting himself full-time to photography in 2020, Paul spent 40 years as a physician in Emergency and Urgent Care. His background in medicine—especially his experience mentoring and supporting families—instilled a quiet empathy that now shapes how he connects with clients. His sessions are calm, thoughtful, and tailored to each person’s unique energy.

Paul also has a special place in his heart for animals. He partners with four animal rescue organizations, using his photography to help pets find forever homes. Most of his earnings go directly to causes close to his heart—from animal welfare to nonprofits supporting people in crisis.

Whether in a studio or on location, Paul brings care and intention to every shoot. He prepares thoroughly, makes space for fun and ease, and always encourages clients to simply enjoy the moment.

Outside the studio, Paul is a curious soul—an avid reader, lifelong learner, and dog dad. He’s married to a concert pianist, and finds inspiration in music, conversation, and his daily walks.

At the heart of it all, Paul’s photography isn’t just about what we see—it’s about what we feel. As he says, if he could photograph anything in the world, it would be “that which is unseen.”

And in the spirit of Saul Leiter, who deeply influenced his work:
A window covered with raindrops interests me more than a photograph of a famous person.
